Most temp mail can't send email, and that includes ILoveTempMail's free inboxes: they only receive. If you need temp mail that can send email, ILoveTempMail Pro lets you send and reply from a mailbox on your own verified custom domain, with each message's delivery status in a Sent folder.

If you're looking for a temporary email to send email from, here's why sending is rare, what it takes, and how to keep your messages out of spam folders.

Why can't most temp mail send email?

Most temp mail and disposable email services are receive-only on purpose, for three reasons:

  1. Abuse. An address anyone can create in a second, with no account, would be ideal for spam, phishing, and harassment if it could send. ILoveTempMail's terms prohibit spam, phishing, and impersonation, and free mailboxes can't send at all.
  2. Deliverability. Mailbox providers check whether a sender is authorized for its domain. As of October 2026, Google's email sender guidelines require every sender to set up SPF or DKIM, and bulk senders (5,000 or more messages a day to Gmail accounts) to set up SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. A shared domain used by thousands of strangers has a hard time keeping a good reputation, so its mail is likely to be filtered.
  3. Shared reputation. On a shared domain, one person's spam damages delivery for everyone who uses it.

Sending from a domain you own and have verified solves all three. The domain's reputation is yours alone, and receiving servers can check that the mail comes from you. (For how free inboxes receive mail, see how temp mail works.)

How to send email from a temp mailbox

  1. Get Pro and link the website. Buy Pro in the iOS or Android app. On the website, click Link account and scan the QR code from the app (Settings, then Scan QR Code).
  2. Connect your domain for receiving. Add one MX record pointing to mx.expresshost18.net at your registrar, then add the domain under Domains. The custom domain setup guide covers every step.
  3. Set up sending. Click Set up sending next to your domain and add the TXT records it shows: DKIM (required, using your domain's own key at em1._domainkey), plus SPF (v=spf1 include:expresshost18.net ~all) and DMARC (v=DMARC1; p=none), which are recommended.
  4. Verify the records. Click Verify records. DNS changes can take a few minutes, so if it's still waiting, try again shortly. When DKIM passes, the domain shows Sending ready.
  5. Create a mailbox on the domain. Click New mailbox, choose Custom, and pick your domain.
  6. Write the email. Open Compose, choose the mailbox under From, add up to 10 recipients separated by commas, and write a subject and message. Click Send, or press Cmd or Ctrl plus Enter.
  7. Track delivery in Sent. Each message shows a status: Sending, Sent, Delivered, or Failed, with a reason when delivery fails.

The composer shows how many sends you have left this month. Messages are plain text, and there's no option to attach files.

How to reply from your temp inbox

When an email arrives at a mailbox on your verified domain, open it and click Reply. ILoveTempMail fills in the recipient, adds "Re:" to the subject, and quotes the original below your reply.

Replies stay in the same conversation. In Sent, each thread shows the emails you received and the ones you sent, in order, and you can reply again from there. Removing a conversation from Sent doesn't unsend anything.

When is a temp mailbox that can send useful?

Sending makes sense when you need a short conversation without giving out your main address:

  • Marketplaces and classified ads: reply to buyers or sellers from an address you can retire after the deal.
  • Customer support: if you signed up somewhere with an address on your domain, write to support from that same address so they can find your account.
  • One-off contacts: a landlord, a contractor, or an event organizer you don't need in your main inbox for years.
  • Side projects: give a project or small newsletter its own domain and addresses, separate from your personal mail.

If the conversation turns into something you'll keep, move it to your regular address before the mailbox expires.

Deliverability tips: how to keep your mail out of spam

  • Verify DKIM, and add SPF and DMARC. DKIM is required to send. SPF and DMARC are recommended, and Google expects all three from bulk senders. SPF, DKIM and DMARC explained shows how they work together.
  • Keep a single SPF record. If your domain already has one, add include:expresshost18.net to it instead of publishing a second. The SPF standard, RFC 7208, says a domain must not have more than one, and receivers treat duplicates as an error.
  • Start DMARC at p=none. That's the value ILoveTempMail suggests. It tells receiving servers not to take special action on messages that fail checks, which is a safe place to start.
  • Write to people who expect your email. Spam complaints hurt your domain's reputation. Google asks senders to keep reported spam rates below 0.3%.
  • Write like a person. Use a clear subject, a short message, and no misleading links.
  • Start small on a new domain. A brand-new domain has no sending history, so begin with a few messages to people who know you.
  • Read failure reasons. A Failed status comes with details, such as a mistyped address, so you can fix the problem and send again.

Is sending from a temp mailbox anonymous?

No. Your mail comes from a domain registered to you, and every message is signed with your domain's DKIM key. Recipients can reply, and the domain points back to you, so treat it like any email address you send from.

Things to know

  • Requirements: Pro, a domain you own, a verified DKIM record, and a mailbox on that domain that hasn't expired.
  • Limits: a monthly send quota, and up to 10 recipients per email.
  • Expiry: mailboxes on your domain follow linked-account rules, 30 days by default and extendable with Pro (guest mailboxes get 5 days). Once a mailbox expires, you can't send from it or receive replies.
  • ILoveTempMail domains can't send: even on Pro, sending only works from your own verified domain.

FAQ

Can temp mail send emails?

Most temp mail is receive-only, including ILoveTempMail's free inboxes. ILoveTempMail Pro can send from mailboxes on your own verified custom domain.

Is there a free temp mail that can send email?

ILoveTempMail's free mailboxes can't send. Anonymous sending from shared domains attracts abuse and gets poor delivery, which is why ILoveTempMail only sends from domains you own and verify.

Can I reply to an email from a temporary address?

Yes, with Pro, if the email arrived at a mailbox on your verified domain. Open it, click Reply, and the conversation appears in Sent.

Why do I need DKIM to send email?

DKIM signs each message so receiving servers can confirm it came from your domain. ILoveTempMail requires it before you can send, and Gmail requires SPF or DKIM from every sender.

How many emails can I send?

Pro includes a monthly send quota, and the composer shows how many sends you have left this month. Each email can go to up to 10 recipients.
