You can use temp mail for Facebook: sign up with a temporary email address, then confirm it with the link or code Facebook sends. Your real inbox stays out of it. The catch is recovery. Once the temporary mailbox expires, Facebook has no working email for password resets or security checks, so plan the switch early.
Does Facebook accept a temporary email?
As of October 2026, Facebook's help center says you can create an account with an email address or a mobile number, and that you must confirm whichever one you used to finish. Facebook doesn't publish a list of email domains it refuses. Some disposable domains may be rejected at sign-up, or the confirmation email may never arrive. The fixes are further down.
Two Facebook rules matter more than the domain. Both are on its help page about problems creating an account with your email:
- One email, one account. You can't create a new account with an email address that's already tied to an existing account.
- One personal account per person. Facebook says maintaining more than one personal account is against its Community Standards.
So on Facebook, a temporary address is a privacy tool for your one account. It isn't a way to run extra profiles.
Why use a temporary email for Facebook
People looking for a burner email for Facebook usually want one of these:
- A quieter inbox. Facebook's notification emails land in the temporary inbox, not yours.
- Less exposure. If Facebook's data about you ever leaks, the address in it is a throwaway, not your main one.
- A trial run. Join one group or answer one event invite before you decide whether the account deserves your real address.
- Fast verification. A disposable inbox with code detection gets you through the confirmation step quickly. Our guide to temporary email for verification covers how codes and links work.
How to sign up for Facebook with temp mail
- Open ILoveTempMail and copy the address it creates. No sign-up or personal details needed.
- Go to facebook.com and click Create new account, or start sign-up in the Facebook app. If the form asks for a mobile number, look for the option to use an email address instead.
- Enter your name, the temporary address, a password, your date of birth and gender, then click Sign up.
- Go back to ILoveTempMail. The inbox refreshes on its own about every 15 seconds while the tab is open, so Facebook's email appears without a reload.
- Confirm the address. If the email shows a code, tap Copy code (it's also on the inbox row, so you don't have to open the message) and paste it into Facebook. To use the confirmation link instead, open the email and tap Open link.
- Save your password in a password manager before you close anything.

Facebook verification: link or code?
You may see either. Facebook's help center says to click the link in the confirmation email, and its troubleshooting page also mentions an email code you can resend with Send email again (Facebook Help). ILoveTempMail detects either one: a code gets a Copy code button, and the main verification link gets Open link and Copy link.
Confirm right away. Facebook notes that you may not be able to use the account until you do, and that an unconfirmed account may be deleted after a year of inactivity.
What happens when the temporary address expires
How long you have depends on the kind of ILoveTempMail mailbox:
A 10-minute inbox closes almost as soon as you've confirmed, so it can't receive any of these later emails. That's why a few days of runway matters. How ILoveTempMail works has more on mailbox lifetimes.
After the mailbox expires, nothing Facebook sends to it reaches you: password reset links, login alerts, or the codes Facebook uses to unlock an account it has locked for unusual activity. Recovering an account without access to its email or phone is slower and depends on Facebook's security checks.
The account itself doesn't disappear when the address does. You lose the safety net.
How to switch to your real email before it expires
If you're keeping the account, move it to a permanent address while the temporary inbox still works. As of October 2026, Facebook's steps to add or remove an email are:
- Click your profile picture, then Settings and privacy > Settings.
- Open Accounts Center, then Personal details > Contact info. (Some accounts see Meta Account settings instead.)
- Choose Add new contact > Add email address, enter your real address, select your account and click Next.
- Enter the confirmation code Facebook sends to your real address.
- Back in Contact info, select the temporary address and choose Delete email. Facebook may ask for your password.
Adding a mobile number in the same place gives you a second way back in.
If Facebook rejects your address
- Get a new address. In ILoveTempMail, choose New address. A new random address may land on a different domain, so try sign-up again.
- Resend before you give up. Check the address for typos and use Send email again in Facebook. If you've already requested several codes, Facebook suggests waiting a day before trying again.
- Use a domain you own. With ILoveTempMail Pro, you can receive mail on your own domain by adding one MX record. Your domain isn't on shared disposable-domain blocklists, so filters that check the domain have nothing to match. Here's how temp mail with a custom domain works.
- Use your real email or a mobile number. For an account you plan to keep, that's the more durable choice anyway.
Curious why some sites refuse these addresses? Read why websites block disposable emails. A temporary address protects your inbox; it doesn't change the rules. Facebook's terms apply whatever email you sign up with, including the one-personal-account rule, so use temp mail for privacy and not to get around a ban.

FAQ
Can I use 10 minute mail for Facebook?
You can, but a 10-minute inbox expires before most of Facebook's follow-up emails arrive. An ILoveTempMail guest address lasts 5 days (30 days in a linked account), which leaves time to confirm the account and move it to a permanent email. See how ILoveTempMail compares with 10 Minute Mail.
Does Facebook confirm your email with a code or a link?
Facebook's help center says to click the link in the confirmation email, and it also mentions an email code you can resend. ILoveTempMail shows Copy code for a code and Open link for the link, so either works.
Can I make a second Facebook account with a temporary email?
Facebook says maintaining more than one personal account is against its Community Standards, and each email address can belong to only one account. A temporary address keeps your one account private. It isn't a way around those rules.
What happens to my Facebook account when the temp mail expires?
The account keeps working, but Facebook can no longer email you password resets, login alerts or unlock codes. Add your real email or a mobile number in Accounts Center before the mailbox expires.
Is it safe to use temp mail for Facebook?
It's a safe way to confirm an account and keep your main inbox private. The risk is losing access later, so don't leave an account you care about on an address that expires. More in is temporary email safe and legal.
